RECOMPOSE/Drawing with Thread: A Collaborative Sewing Workshop

6th January 2023

I acknowledge that this quilting bee takes place on Aboriginal land – the Gadigal and Wangal people of the Eora are the traditional custodians of the land. And pay my respects to elders past and present.
What to expect:
I invite you to help (re)create, a safe space in which making/sewing/quilting allows us to create connections, and piece together something new. A safe space in which we can share and make something protective.
The aim of the Quilting Bee is to come together and help join three layers of a small quilt. As with the previous workshops, prior quilting knowledge/skills is not necessary to take part and there is more than one way to contribute: you can help to make this either by taking part in the sewing, or telling a story or simply being there or all three.
There is no wrong way to contribute and every contribution is appreciated. All are welcome, DRAW Space is acessible, though there is only one toilet. There is no requirement to come and stay the duration of the event, staying as long as you are able to is much appreciated. You don’t have to have gone to the first two events to make a valuable contribution.
In return for your help I would like to offer you a small service of your choosing to show my appreciation for your generosity in helping to make this happen. Your name will also be sewn in/printed onto the final artwork so that the people involved in making it will be embedded in it. It is my hope that this will be a kind of magic.
On a final note if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask and discuss.
